Lask and SV Ried are united in color, but divided in substance. The global company BWT has been a sponsor of Lask since 2019 and has now also played the double pass with competitor Ried. The color is the pink of the water treatment company BWT, the clubs are the football Bundesliga teams Lask and SV Oberbank Ried. Lask tried to make pink a fashion color and provide BWT with advertising space. At times, the water treatment company even acted as a supplier, because in the European Cup, only one major sponsor can be represented on the jersey – and the logo of the supplier. The organized Lask fan scene could not do much with pink, although, among other things, the entry of the global company at the Linz Bundesliga club made many things possible. In 2013, the club still played in the regional league and was without a home stadium, last Friday the opening game of the Bundesliga was played in the Raiffeisen Arena, in which the athletes established themselves as a top club. The club has reacquired the Lask square, which was once sold due to financial difficulties, develops talents in its own academy, and has made a training center out of the temporary home in Pasching. BWT CEO Andreas Weißenbacher said at the presentation in Ried that the cooperation with Lask was going well. However, there were also protests from the hard core of fans against the pink jerseys, which Lask wore in a few games per season – and against everything else that appeared pink. The reason: an overwhelming influence of a sponsor on the club was suspected – and a constantly progressing coloring. Lask CEO Siegmund Gruber emphasized that the sponsors would not influence the club. The future of the cooperation between Lask and BWT remains to be seen. Lask wants to continue working with BWT to strengthen the club. The fans, however, remain skeptical. The cooperation between Lask and BWT is a complex issue, with different opinions and interests at play. While the club sees the cooperation as an opportunity to strengthen itself, the fans are concerned about the influence of the sponsor on the club's identity. The situation is further complicated by the fact that BWT is also a sponsor of competitor Ried, which has led to tensions between the two clubs. The outcome of this situation is uncertain, but one thing is clear: the cooperation between Lask and BWT will continue to be a topic of discussion in the future.
